Commentary:
Ignacio Martin-Baro received his Ph.D. from the University of
Chicago and was murdered in El Salvador at the university where
he was a professor in 1989. He and his fellow Jesuits were critical
of the government and the armyof El Salvador and had been outspoken
in their defense of the poor.
The artist is pastor of St. Thomas More Parish in Chicago.
