FIGHT POISON LIQUOR;

91 DIE IN 13 CITIES

7 DEATHS HERE STIR OFFICIALS TO FIX GUILT

Local and federal Agents Join to End Traffic

Alarmed at the rapidly increasing number of deaths resulting from wood alcohol drinking, and fearing that a New Year's celebration will result even more disastrously, federal authorities, police, coroners and public health officials opened a fight last night on distribution of the poison. The drive was headed by Coroner Peter M. Hoffman of Cook county.

The death toll continued to grow. At 8 o'clock the coroner's office reported that during the preceding twenty-four hours seven persons had been listed as fatally poisoned in Chicago. Outside of Chicago eighty four deaths were reported. Connecticut and Massachuttes suffering the heaviest losses. Reports came from cities all over the country and one message stated that officials in Canada had opened a war on the poison.
