The Columbian Fountain was designed by Frederick MacMonnies The boat symbolizes the United States. Columbia sits on the very top on a pedestal the has the national shield. An eagle's head sticks out the front of the boat with a statue of Fame heralding the boat's arrival with a horn. The boat is oared by eight figures that symbolize the Arts and Industry.
