Both Columbus and the Vikings are said to have discovered America, but the Asians were the earliest explorers of America, crossing over the Bearing Strait from Russia to Alaska on a land bridge. This tribe of Eskimos set up camp north of the fair grounds. Although they were not by the Anthropology Building, they did fit in with the ethnographic displays of indigenous peoples that settled on the continent of America prior to Columbus.
