The architect of the Horticulture Building was William Le Baron Jenney, of Chicago. In the center, there was a large dome that was 180 ft. high. There were four smaller domes surrounding the large one. Each had glass roofs so the building functioned like a greenhouse. Many exotic plants from all over the world were displayed in the Horticultural Hall.
