What is a "mailing list"?
A mailing list is a group of people interested in the same subject. Instead of maintaining separate conversations with many different people by sending several emails to many different email addresses, the mailing list allows many different people to send email to a single email address which then distributes the email to anyone subscribed to the list. That is, when a member of the list sends — or "posts" — a message to the list's email address, it is automatically delivered to the email boxes of all the list members. Members of the list can then reply to the messages posted to the list, post new messages themselves, and just read other members' messages without replying at all (called "lurking").

How does it work?
Like other mailing lists, all you need to participate is an email address. And, subscribing to the eCUIP Mailing List is absolutely free. To subscribe, all you need to do is submit your email address and choose a password with the form on the Join page. After you've submitted this information, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your request to subscribe by replying to the email. After you have replied to the email, you will receive one email confirming that your email address has been added to the list as well as a second email with instructions on how to post a message to the list, remove your name from the list (or, "unsubscribe"), and change your options (see below). You will then begin receiving mail from the list as it's posted.

What are subscription options?
The eCUIP Mailing List offers several options for your convenience:

  1. Disable. If you will be unable to read your email for an extended period of time and would like to stop receiving email from the list during that time, you may choose to "disable" delivery. (Upon your return you may also enable delivery here as well.)
  2. Digest. If you'd prefer to receive the day's email once, bundled together (instead of individually, as it's posted), you may choose to receive the "digest" version of the mailing list.
  3. Receive posts. You may choose whether or not you would like to receive the emails you post the list.
  4. Acknowledgment mail. You may choose to receive acknowlegement mail when you send mail to the list — this option is useful if you've elected not to receive your own posts to the list (see above).
  5. Conceal. If you would prefer that your address not be listed among the publicly available list of Subscribers, you may choose to conceal yourself.
  6. Password. You may also change your password or, if you've forgotten your password, you can have it emailed to you as a reminder.
  7. Unsubscribe. And, of course, if you'd like to stop receiving email from the list, you may unsubscribe at any time.

You may change these options to suit your preferences from the Edit page.
