Title: George Washington Memorial

Commentary: This beautiful work is meant to welcome visitors to Washington Park, which lies directly behind the first president. Daniel Chester French was one of the most admired sculptors of his time. There is another work of his not far away which you may know, the so-called "Golden Lady" of Jackson Park (really named "Republic").
