Harold Washington, the first African American mayor of Chicago,
lived in an apartment across from the park where this work is

The book is meant to represent the book of his life and is placed
at a level where children can read it.
Walter Arnold, the sculptor, is a Hyde Park resident who made
the humorous gargoyles on the Medici and made a great many decorations
inside the new Lab School gym.
