Commentary:
Smooth and twisting tongs of bronze grow from a base that is actually
part of the sculpture. It creates a sense of outburst, as if something
living has come out of the earth.
Richard Hunt is one of the most prominent and successful African
American sculptors. His work is usually made of metal with smooth
and curvy surfaces that make you want to touch them. He lives
in Chicago and has another work in our neighborhood: "From
Here to There", at the Martin Luther King Community Center.
