A number of maps of volcanic activity were included in Nicholas Desmarest's "Memoir on the determination of the three epochs of nature by the products of volcanoes, and on the use that one can make of these epochs in the study of volcanoes," published in Mémoires de l'Académie des sciences, in Paris in 1775.
