From
1912 to 1944, Sinai Temple dominated the southwest corner of 46th
and Grand Boulevard (King Drive). Alfred Alschuler designed
this Italian Renaissance style temple for Chicago's first Reform
synagogue, founded in 1861. The building now houses Mt. Pisgah
Missionary Baptist Church, one of the largest black congregations
in Grand Boulevard. [G. Lane]
