This photo shows a replica of a Siberian Mammoth
in the Anthropology Building.
The replica was based on measurements taken from
a mammoth that was found frozen in ice in 1799 near the mouth
of the river Lena in northern Siberia, Russia. The Anthropology
Building attempted to represent the history of life
on Earth from prehistoric times to the present with an emphasis
on North and South America.
