The Transportation Building was designed by Louis
Sullivan, of Chicago. Sullivan did not approve of the neoclassical
style that dominated the look of the fair buildings; he felt
that buildings should reflect the modern look of the industrial
age instead of ancient styles. He designed the Transportation
Building in a style similar to Art Deco, a style that would become
popular in the 1920s and 30s.
