When
did the Digital Library Project begin?
The CUIP Digital Library initiative
began in 1997 with the meeting of a core group
of CUIP librarians, teachers and technical coordinators.
The primary goals of this meeting were to:
- Identify what books or resources should be
included in a digital library for K-12, and
- Define the parameters of the search procedures
for this digital library.
In the first phase of the project, which began
in spring 1998 and ran through the summer of 1999,
project staff worked closely with a pilot group
of three public schools, deliberately chosen to
represent a wide range of demographics and conditions.
In the fall of 1999, the second phase of the project
began and the Digital Library has been "rolled
out" to an additional six schools.
