Alley Art

Artist: Unknown

Commissioned by: Unknown

Location: Alley between 56th and 57th and Kenwood and Dorchester

Medium: Mural

Commentary: Chicago has lots of alley art, some done by midnight vandals but much done legally for people who either care about the art, care about the artist (usually a son) or think that a large graffiti piece will discourage tagging. (It almost always does, as graffiti artists tend to respect each others work.)

The work shown here is very elaborate and well done. At the bottom is an outline of Chicago's skyline, the middle contains a complex 3-dimensional name, probably the artist's, with a fly in matching colors drawing attention the the whole work.
