This photo is a view of the north court which featured
French sculpture. The tallest sculpture on the left is a bronze
statue of Washington and Lafayette. Lafayette was a French general
that joined the American army to fight the British in the American
Revolutionary War.
He became good friends with George Washington and even named
a son after him.
