Here is a display of bicycles from England. The
mechanical mannequins on the bicycles peddled continuously in
place.
In 1893, the style of bicycle shown in this photo was fairly
new. They were called safeties because they were much easier
to ride than the big wheeled bicycles that preceded them. Bicycles
were an important means of transportation for those who could
not afford a horse and carriage.
