Commentary:
This is one of two tremendous murals featured in the Donnelley
Youth Center Art Garden, along with several sculptures, mosaics
and a fountain. This early mural celebrates the families of the
South Side and their links to an African past. The later work
"Feed Your Child The Truth" has taken much inspiration
from it, without being as dramatic or moving.
The Donnelley Art Garden is unquestionably the greatest accumulation
of outdoor art on the south side of Chicago.
