Commentary:
This is one of two tremendous murals featured in the Donnelley
Youth Center Art Garden, along with several sculptures, mosaics
and a fountain. The Great Migration traces the history of African
Americans in Chicago from origins in the fields of the South throgh
their movement north into jobs and housing. The work is highlighted
by intersperced text which describes the history of the migration.
The Donnelley Art Garden is unquestionably the greatest accumulation
of outdoor art on the south side of Chicago.
