Title: Being Born

Artist: Virginio Ferrari

Commissioned by: John and Patricia Rosenthal

Location: 5476 S. Ridgewood Crt.

Medium: Stainless Steel

Commentary: This is a small version of a 20' sculpture which greets visitors coming into the city from the Ohio exit of the Kennedy Expressway. The circles represent a woman's body and her womb. There is no baby and no indication of the struggle of giving birth. It is all very cool and serene.
This is one of only two pieces of public art in our area displayed at private homes. Why do you think people seldom decorate their homes in this way?
