The statue depicts the great Swedish botanist usually known by
the Latinized name Linneaus. It was erected by Chicago's prominent
Swedish community in Lincoln Park in 1891. In 1976, it was moved
to the Midway where it was rededicated by the King of Sweden himself.
This work is actually a copy of an original standing in the royal
gardens in Stockholm, Sweden.
