Title: Carl Von Linne

Artist: Johan Dyfverman

Commissioned by: Swedish community of Chicago

Location: In the Midway, opposite 1116 E. 59th Street

Medium: Bronze

Commentary: The statue depicts the great Swedish botanist usually known by the Latinized name Linneaus. It was erected by Chicago's prominent Swedish community in Lincoln Park in 1891. In 1976, it was moved to the Midway where it was rededicated by the King of Sweden himself. This work is actually a copy of an original standing in the royal gardens in Stockholm, Sweden.
